HULA HOOP FOR BEGINNERS

This can be a series of classes for complete beginners or a one-off workshop, perfect as a fun addition to any event. I will cover waist hooping and some simple ways to manipulate the hoop both on and off the body. This class can be adjusted depending on the students, a beginner class as a team-building exercise in an office environment will be quite different to a beginner class at a circus school.

INTERMEDIATE HULA HOOP MANIPULATION TECHNIQUE

This is a really fun class for people with some (or a lot) of experience hula hooping. I will teach some of my own hula hoop vocabulary, breaking down the tricks and sequences I use and then putting it all together at the end for a smooth and fun sequence to take away and show your friends or incorporate into your own material.

INTERMEDIATE HULA HOOP ON-BODY SPLITTING TECHNIQUE

This is a technique class, with a strong focus on developing a good technique for controlling one hoop on the body with the intention of being able to split many hoops. Most of the class will be with only one hoop, and depending on the level of the students we will work up to more hoops.

CREATIVE SEQUENCING FOR HULA HOOPS AND/OR OTHER MANIPULATION PROPS

This is a creative class, or a flow class. All about giving you tools to get more creative with the material you already have. We will use improvisation tools taken from circus, contemporary dance, modern hooping (‘hoop-dance’) and theatre. This is also a great class for learning how to create new tricks or transitions that are completely your own!

BODY CARE AND TRAINING THEORY FOR HULA HOOPERS

This is a theoretical class, great for circus students but applicable to everyone. Your students will learn how to care for their body while hula hooping (or other forms of movement), we will talk about creating a better system for training to help get the best results for your body and your schedule. We will learn about building strength and flexibility and how to balance the two, how to properly warm up and some great exercises to care for a physical body.

ROLL AND RELEASE CLASS

Perfect at the end of a big day. This is a guided ‘cool down’ aimed at releasing tension, increasing flexibility and relaxing the body after a day of training.

ACTIVE FLEXIBILITY

A great class for hula hoopers looking to increase their flexibility, staying strong and avoiding injury.

FUNDAMENTALS OF GROUP AND PARTNER ACROBATICS

This is a class for acrobats, especially suited to circus performers who don’t specialise in acrobatics as an introduction to the most popular circus discipline of the moment!

WORKING UP TO THREE-HIGH

This is a very specific class for building strong foundations towards a three-high. You do not need to bring a partner, I encourage people to work together. We will not cover actual three-highs in this class, but you will come away with a lot of exercises to improve your technique and maybe come to my ‘Perfecting your Three-High Technique class!’.

PERFECTING YOUR THREE-HIGH TECHNIQUE

This is exactly what it sounds like. A class for people who are comfortable in three-high and want to improve their technique or work towards variations on three-highs.
